Spring is "Springing-Up"

With the taunts of spring, come the full in-store point-of-purchase displays for flower seeds, potting soil, vegetable seeds and the array of other various gardening gadgets and wonders. Lowe's Lawn & Garden section has been a must-browse section ever since mid February when their gardening supplies were re-introduced. Yep - "plant" me in that area and I can occupy myself (and maybe a cart-full) of some of that gardening goodness.

Well, I did get myself some seed packets this year. For flowers, I chose: Morning Glories, Cosmos, Snapdragons and Zinnias.

I also decided to try an indoor herb garden with: Lavender, Cilantro, Basil and Oregano.

I will also have a windowsill planter with leaf lettuce again this year, but, from past learnings, that will ALSO be kept inside. (darn ROBINS!) I am, also going to try green peppers this year mmm...

As I snapped these pics quick, I thought I should let you in on my little - ok, maybe not so little - plant hobby I have...
Upstairs in the loft, getting plenty of sunshine!

On the windowsill in our bedroom.

The Peace Lily from my Grandpa's funeral and the Orchid downstairs in the Fish Room - yes, it's real!

Our "Green Bay Packers" Plant on the kitchen table

the seeds turned to seedlings for my flowers, coming in nicely!

Now we move outside, where I hauled out some of the things you see below, since the weekend weather has been in the 50s!

This is a plant screen I got on clearance last year (I think) - I just set some pots in it to show how it works. Tucker is in there checking out the pots on the ground. He likes that it is spring time too!

this is the 1/2 wall in front of our porch - another flower box will go next to this one shown. I have yet to plant anything in here - it's only March in MN here people!

So, that pretty much sums up my plant state at the moment. I am excited to post more photos when the flowers come up and show their colors - and when I have some peppers and herbs to show! I have been having fun getting down and dirty in the potting soil and prepping pots and plants and seeds for the new spring and summer seasons to come!

Think Spring!
