Professional Graphic Design Blunders

The other day, Derick was flipping through the Easter "ad" for Target and was looking intently at a couple of the pictures. Thinking that it was something he was interested in, I asked him what he was looking at. His answer surprised me! He was looking at the following two pictures:

The first image of the boy "shooting the basketball" made me just about fall off my chair!
The Graphic Designer must have not been watching what they were doing. The poor little boy in that ad looks like he is going to severely hurt himself by straddling the pole holding up the hoop, or shooting the ball and the ball hitting the bottom edge of the backboard and come crashing right back down on him again. Not to mention that the scale of the boy in proportion to the basketball hoop is way off.

The second image is of a boy flying a kite. This was the second image that Derick stopped to look at, hold up to me and ask, "This boy isn't even flying the kite, is he?!' I looked a little closer, and there again, the scale is off, although a bit better than the poor basketball boy.

In other news - after today, I am down to single digits of days left on my vacation count-down! I am so excited to get away for awhile and see my good friend. I think that this vacation will actually force me to relax for a number of reasons. For one, I will be many states away from home, I am staying with my friend, so I will not have many of my things to entertain me or remind me they need doing, yes dust bunnies, I see you scoffing in the corner. Also, the mentality of my friend - is very laid-back and chill. Something I really need right now amidst the chaos in my work life! And finally, I will be going to Texas - pretty much a given that the easy-going, laid back Texan way of living will rub off on me. If anyone is interested, the weather for the past week has been in the mid 80s for the high and lows of mid to high 50s. I think I can live with that!!

Don't get me wrong, There is still a list of things I have put together that I would maybe like to see/try/experience. One of the ones I am most looking forward to is the Zilker Botanical Garden in Austin, Texas. I am really looking forward to taking lots and lots of pictures there and just walking around all of the colors and shapes of the flowers and structures!

I am sure that I will also get to experience some of the nightlife and possibly a museum or two as well. I am open to whatever, and some of the time, I am sure I will be content just to lie around outside - maybe by a pool with my books! I plan on bringing a small library with me to keep me occupied while my friend is at work for some of the time during the days I am there. Cookie baking has also crossed my mind...I am sure that will happen as well! So excited!
