Fireworks and Ferris Wheels

So, continuing the weekend’s first blog, here is what the rest of the weekend shaped up to be:

Saturday afternoon, my mom came over to do some loads of laundry because of her dying washing machine. Then, her and I headed over to “Father Hennepin Festival’s Craft Show.” It was pretty small, and the craft part of things ran up and down one small part of road until it blended in with the carnival area. She bought me a new knock-off purse for an early birthday present and I bought a big dragonfly necklace. We also walked around the exotic animals petting zoo. They had some really interesting animals in there. There was an albino Wallaby (I think he was my favorite), little potbellied pigs, goats, camels, donkey, pony, and then there was one of the oldest recorded long haired beef cattle (looked like a shaggy pony) and a couple of the largest rodents on record, from South America. I will have to post some of the pictures later when I get them off my phone.

We headed back, threw some more laundry in and she went home to check on Mitzy, Jana’s dog and told me to call her when the laundry was done and she would come get it.

Derick and I headed back to the carnival area to watch the fireworks later that night. We decided to buy some tickets to ride some of the fair rides! We took a ride on the Ferris Wheel first and were on the very top when the fireworks were going! I had forgotten just how high up they go! I was a little freaked out at first because it had been awhile since I had been up that high, and on an old Ferris Wheel…Which, Derick was kind enough to ponder aloud when we were at the top of the ride,
“You know what, they never seem to make new ones (ferris wheels) you never see new ones, just the old falling apart ones…” As I was gripping the handrail…nice dear, nice… Then we went on the Tilt-A-Whirl and THAT has to be one of my favorites, and then the Scrambler. I made him sit on the outside so I could squish him! After that, we weaved our way out of the temporary fair grounds and back about a ½ mile to our car!

Derick and I finally broke into our Lego Starwars video game this weekend! He had been itching to play it, so we played a few levels and had fun. I also played some Resistance 2 this weekend. But I also got farther into my last Twilight book, like I had wanted to! I got almost through the second “part” of the book – Jacob. I sat outside on the sunny patio too! Got a little sun – burn, but it isn’t bad at all. The book is getting pretty good. I think Minny at work might have been right, the last one might be the best one. Though, I did really like the first book probably the best, because, come on, can you really do better than the first one – of anything?!

The rest of Sunday was just kinda spent lounging around the house, inside and out. We ran to Target and bought a couple of patio chairs since ours were A) borrowed from my parents and B) plastic and one back broke off one! I think I could sit out there all day when the weather was as perfect as lastnight!

Looking forward to this week, it should be a pretty decent week. I am looking forward to the end of the week –Thursday is my birthday and a bunch of people are going out to lunch with me, and then Friday, 1/2 day and a couple more people are going to go to El Toro’s (AWESOME Mexican place in Champlin) yay! Friday night is Gretchen’t graduation Open House in Victoria, MN and Saturday I will be in WI for my grandma’s 94th b-day party and then Sunday will be dinner at Buona Sera and then ice cream cake at our house for my b-day/Father’s day. I forsee a lot of driving this coming weekend! Oh well, a lot of friends, family and food! Count me in!
