The Last Night

I spent my last night in the townhouse last night. The. Last. Night. Ever.

It was strange, to say the least; sure I had gotten used to living there alone for the past couple of months, but the last night was especially odd.

I came home to the townhouse after work yesterday to find that Derick had successfully brought the remaining furniture pieces to the storage space with the exception of a few pieces that will be finding storage elsewhere for the time being due to filled storage spaces!

He had left the futon mattress on the floor and the bedding from the master bed in a ball on the floor. I felt like I was back in college. I put the sheets on the mattress and proceeded to bring the remainder of my belongings that were upstairs, downstairs (read - the remaining contents of my closet and my own personal hell - bathroom items).

I rounded out my evening by making macaroni and cheese (college nod again) and a Bloody Mary.

It is with this post that I can say that I was successful in bringing everything downstairs other than the glass shelves for the entertainment center, vacuum and a lone plunger in the bathroom upstairs. Other than that, everything else is on the main level in various stages of packing:

  • Packing to move to the camper to remain in full use.
  • Packing to go to the storage unit or other storage area.

So basically, it looks like a bomb went off. A clean bomb. Nothing is technically messy, dirty or otherwise resembling the carnage scene after a typical bomb drop. I digress...

Waiting for me tonight is packing up the remainder of my day-to-day life and then having Derick come by and help bring the last of our items and put them into storage and officially be moved out of the townhouse. It's going to be bittersweet. I'm not much of a crier, but hey, you never know with a change as monumental as this one.

So, for the next 90 days, we will be living together in our van down by the river camper down by the river in Otsego. It'll be an adventure. I am looking forward to the downtime. We will be forced to go back to basic forms of entertainment as we will not have wireless internet, internet, or cable television. Please rest assured, we are okay with this. It's almost like we are going Amish. Of course I am kidding. Electricity, running water and indoor - albeit camper plumbing - is a must for us.

Camper life will make us slow down - even if we would rather be busying ourselves with things to do. We don't really have anything to shop for and no new projects to start. Derick has been, and will continue to fish, fish and fish some more. I will make a cameo here and there on the boat as well - if for no other reason than to bring a little more color to my glow-in-the-dark limbs. Yep, I am that Minnesotan. Minus the "tan".

Derick will have his Master's Classes, Renegade Bassers Bass Fishing Tournaments and then preparing for school in the fall.

I have work. and pretty much just work. I can see a lot more reading in my summer this year. Derick has wanted me to take up reading GoT with him as well, but that almost seems like homework to me. The size alone of those novels is a bit daunting when they are all globbed together in one Kindle book. You are on page 1 of 5 million...grrreat. I have two lighter, quick reads that I hope to accomplish before I really dig into those GoT books.

Hopefully you are all having a great summer. It is a bit nuts to think that next weekend is already the 4th of July. Time flies when you're having fun...or when you are packing, packing and moving the past seven years of your life!
